Join the free course to learn German, offered to students and graduates in partnership between the Information Technology Industry Development Agency and the German Corporation for International Cooperation.
What is this free course to learn German?
In collaboration between the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), a new initiative has been launched to enhance the German language skills of graduates and job seekers. This initiative aims to assist them in securing job opportunities at companies in Egypt that focus on the German market through the use of information technology and related services (IT/ITeS).
The initiative includes several dimensions:
- Comprehensive Training Program: Aims to improve the necessary German language skills for participants to engage in the labor market.
- Network Establishment: Forming a network of German speakers for the exchange of experiences and mutual support.
- Job Linking: Providing connections between job seekers and employment opportunities in the targeted companies.
- The purpose of this initiative is to enable participants to acquire basic language skills and obtain job opportunities, thereby enhancing their effective presence in the job market.

Meeting the Growing Market Needs
The Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) is diligently working to meet the growing market demand for German language training, particularly within the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector. Many international Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) companies, headquartered in Egypt, urgently require candidates with high proficiency in German to fill positions in IT and call centers.

About GIZ
The German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) is a governmental institution that provides global services in the fields of international cooperation for sustainable development and international education. Operating under the directives of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), GIZ has been active in Egypt since 1956, supporting the Egyptian government in achieving the goals of “Sustainable Development Strategy: Egypt Vision 2030,” thereby improving the social and economic conditions of the Egyptian citizens. GIZ implements a wide array of projects in Egypt on behalf of the German government, the European Union, and other clients, covering diverse areas such as renewable energy, energy efficiency, water and sanitation, irrigation, waste management, sustainable economic development of employment, governance, and urban development.

Collaboration with Komet Institute
The Information Technology Industry Development Agency collaborates with the Comet Institute to offer a German language learning program. The institute’s team consists of native German speakers, and it aims to provide linguistic support to individuals eager to effectively learn German, in addition to offering an overview of German culture.
Goals of the German Language Initiative
The partnership between the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), spanning from August 2023 to July 2026, aims to achieve a set of specific goals according to agreed key performance indicators:
- Improving Employment Opportunities: Enhancing job prospects for approximately 1200 graduates and job seekers, half of whom are women, through training programs focused on linguistic proficiency and market readiness. Participants will gain opportunities to connect with potential employers, supported by GIZ, especially those companies active in the German market.
- Providing Language Training: Conducting up to 3000 German language training courses across all levels for about 1200 graduates and job seekers, with an average of 2-3 levels per trainee. ITIDA will fund 1500 of these courses, while GIZ will finance the remaining 1500 courses, based on individual assessments and market needs.

Benefits Offered by the Program
- The program includes specialized language training to learn German and prepare participants to engage in the work environment.
- Job fairs are organized to showcase participants to companies interested in collaboration.
- Training in personal skills and work culture: The program offers training in personal skills and the basics of work culture.
- Initiatives are launched to create communities of language professionals for the exchange of experiences and to conduct regular online meetings.
- Efforts are made to promote events and activities that introduce the Egyptian information technology and telecommunications sector to German and European companies.
- Relationships are strengthened and discussions enhanced with partners and stakeholders in Germany and the European Union to attract German companies to establish information technology projects and outsource services in Egypt.
Admission Requirements for Free German Language Learning
- Nationality: The applicant must be an Egyptian citizen.
- Education: Applicants must be either university graduates or final-year students in fields such as engineering (only in Information Technology and Computer Science areas), computer science and informatics, media, arts, commerce, languages, and law.
- Note: Medical fields, education, archaeology, and tourism and hospitality programs are not eligible for participation in the program.
- Age: Applicants must be 30 years old or younger.
- Job Seekers: The program welcomes job seekers with practical experience who are looking to improve their employment opportunities with companies serving the German market.
- Language Level: Applicants must have achieved at least an A1 level in German, which will be assessed. The goal is for participants to reach the C1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
- Military Status: Male applicants must have completed their military service or be fully exempted, and proof of exemption, such as a certificate indicating they are an only son, must be provided.
- Commitment: Applicants are required to sign a commitment declaration after the screening and acceptance process.
Notes
- The partnership is scheduled to last from August 2023 until July 2026, spanning three years. All training schedules, tests, assessments, and interviews will be conducted solely through the Comet Institute.
- There are no specific start dates for the scholarship; the Comet Institute has the flexibility to set the start date based on its admission arrangements, and you will be notified of the specific start date.
- Regarding the training format, it can be online, in-person, or a combination of both. The Comet Institute will provide the available training options, and you can choose the method that suits your needs.
- However, once the commitment declaration is signed, you will not be able to change the training method (refer to the selection criteria).
