The Melbourne Research Scholarship (MRS) for 2025-2026 offers full funding for international students, with approximately 350 scholarships available for master’s and doctoral studies.

Benefits of Melbourne Research Scholarships

A full tuition fee waiver for up to two years for students pursuing a research-based Master’s degree, and up to four years for students pursuing a Doctoral degree.
An annual living allowance of $37,000 USD for full-time study for the year 2024, extendable up to two years for Master’s by research students and up to 3.5 years for Doctoral students. This allowance is adjusted annually and includes paid leave for sickness, maternity, and limited caregiving.
A relocation grant of $2,000 for students moving from states or territories outside Victoria, or $3,000 for students moving from outside Australia.
Individual membership in the Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), designed for international students who require a student visa to study in Australia.

How to Apply for Melbourne Research Scholarships ?

Follow the steps below to apply for a research scholarship in Melbourne:

If you are a new student and have submitted an application for a postgraduate research course before the application deadline for that course, you will automatically be considered eligible for the research scholarships. The scholarship application will be added to your record within seven days of submitting your course application.
If you have already received an offer to join a postgraduate research course and have decided to defer your start to the following year, or if you are currently enrolled in a research course and are seeking a scholarship, you will need to submit an online application form.
